Who We Are

Our Story

For more than 23 years, Balius & Xanthus Saddlery (BnX Saddlery) has been a family-run saddlery business built on a simple belief: every rider deserves a saddle made exactly for them, without paying a fortune for it. What started as a passion for the craft grew into a mission, to bring truly custom, handmade western saddles to riders everywhere, at fair and honest prices, while carrying the centuries-old art of Indian saddle making to the world stage. Today, that same passion drives every saddle that leaves our workshop, whether it's headed to a barrel racer in Texas, a rancher in Alberta, or a trail rider in Queensland.
 

Our Craftsmen

Behind every BnX saddle is a team of 10 skilled saddle makers, each bringing 15+ years of hands-on experience to the bench. This isn't outsourced, assembly-line work, it's a small team of dedicated artisans who know leather, stitching, and saddle construction inside and out, and who take personal pride in getting every detail right. From cutting and tooling the leather to hand-finishing the final stitch, our craftsmen build each saddle with the same care whether it's your first custom order or your fifth.
 

Our Workshop

Our workshop is based in Kanpur, India, long known as the leather hub of the country, and home to generations of saddlery and leather craftsmanship. What sets us apart is that we don't just build saddles here; we build the saddle trees in-house too. Making our own trees means we control fit and customization from the ground up, seat size, gullet width, skirt shape, and rigging can all be tailored precisely to your horse and your riding style, rather than being limited to a stock tree. It's this in-house control that lets us call our saddles truly, completely handmade to precision.
